TV Next supports 50-foot height limit for marina expansion

Hello neighbors,

I wanted to update everyone on the boat storage proposal by Greenleaf Capital.

Thanks to the collective efforts of our neighbors, we believe we have succeeded in reducing the scope of the project.  Greenleaf had proposed four structures (including two double-width ones, making it the equivalent of six buildings), each reaching 90 feet in height. Through our advocacy, the proposal was withdrawn from the St. Petersburg Development Review Committee last fall.

Our residents made their voices heard by reaching out to state representatives, Florida Governor DeSantis, multiple state agencies, local officials, including St. Pete Council members, the Development Review Committee (DRC), Mayor Welch, and others.

Tierra Verde NEXT has met with the staff of the St. Petersburg Development Review Committee, St. Pete Building Department, Zoning Department, and Pinellas County Commissioner Vince Nowicki to voice our concerns. We have also received support from Couty Commission Chair Brian Scott.

Tierra Verde NEXT has always advocated for a reduced height. Ninety-foot-tall buildings were not and are not compatible with our neighborhoods and community. Our goal is for the boat storage to match the marina across the street, Port 32, and be no taller than 50 feet. We understand the developer's wish for increased density of boat storage, and we believe this is possible with buildings of no more than 50 feet in height.

Tierra Verde NEXT has reached out to Greenleaf and asked to meet with them. As of today, they have not responded to our multiple requests to meet.  Our goal is responsible development for our island community.

Please continue to watch for messages. We may need your help again.  Let’s all stay engaged on this important issue.

Our team of residents is working very hard to ensure this outcome is a win-win for our community.
